A typical Wednesday ...

On Wednesday, I teach the two finance classes in Zha Bei (a district in Shanghai Administrative Region).  The trip, beginning at 10 am, is about  35 minutes mostly on expressways - 120 kmph -  in a SILC van (whereas Monday morning I leave at 6:45 am on a University bus that takes 1.25 hours).  I usually rollerblade early in the morning (before 7 am on campus) and then do some work before catching the van.

Class does not start until 12:10 so I often get a newspaper (China Daily) and lunch as well as print/copy/work on final details for class.  Classes are back to back and last until 15:40 which means about 4 pm before I get out of the classroom.  The University bus back to Jia Ding (another district further out in the Shanghai Admin. Region) doesn't leave until 4:45 so I do some chit-chat with the English teachers or go out for some jiaozi.  The trip back again only takes around 40 minutes but I am often tired and only have energy to check email and respond.

Time then to head out and eat - most often for less than $3 per night although tonight we splurged as Karen, Susan and I went to UBC Coffee.  The upscale place has good food and we can often find a great meal for a reasonable price - I spent 28 yuan tonight - just less than $4!

As usual, I am beat and have the proofs for an article being published in December in the Journal of Economics to finish and send off to University of Northern Iowa tomorrow.  Time for some light reading and bed!
