Finals now! At least classes are over!

WHEW - still tons to do but at least classes are over.  The past week has been more than a little hectic.  The Economics Department took a weekend off - the trip to Hangzhou - I still have a post that I began yesterday unfinished so watch for that.

Monday I was off to Zha Bei and the Yan Chang campus, as usual at 6:30 am and back at 3 pm to teach my 4 to 6 pm class.  Tuesday was the last of my English classes!!! YEAH!  The students still enjoyed my classes but I continue to prefer to teach English in my Finance and Economics classes.  Those of you who have been in my classes will attest to that!!  My students here say the same thing!

HERE at the University of Shanghai, SILC, I actually have them email me the Investment Proposal - oh, they are not ONLY investigating a company, they must ALSO "hand" me an Investment Proposal for a $ 150 million capital budgeting idea complete with cash flows, MIRR, IRR, NPV, PBP and Discounted PBP.  Yes, I am Chair of the Board of Directors and a harsh critic of their English (from which I have received compliments here as well - yes, they really improve their english).  I have found that highlighting their mistakes and actually at times rewriting their work is very helpful.

Most of the class is now in their third revision - the Base and Worst case scenarios as well as the Macroeconomic environment, especially currency issues, was tough for them.  Yes, them must know the 3 goals, as all of you had to, AND include them in their papers.  Economic Growth here is at 11.5% with inflation (just out yesterday) at 6.5%!!  That's three months of 6.2 to 6.5% - so the papers all speculated that the People's Bank of China (the Central Bank for the PRC) will increase interest rates (so we would say - DUH! - in the U.S. right?!!?).  So how will THAT affect your proposal!!  The Board of Directors is TOUGH!

Yesterday was the last day of Financial Management!  No, not a sad ending, they all were happy to hear that I will teach them next term too: Financial Markets and Institutions!  I am really excited!  One preparation and three classes!!

Better get back to my presentation PowerPoint.  I was invited to present a paper at an International Conference on Saturday morning - yes, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF FINALS!
