SILC Conference

We had a nice conference today put on by SILC.  Specifically, research on Australian-Chinese Free Trade and the work on the Free Trade Agreement was presented.  While much of the work was presented in Chinese, most of the PowerPoint slides were in English and many of the papers were as well.

I happily gave advice and numerous pictures - I am going to have to be careful as all of these requests and compliments may go to my head!  There were at least 20 pictures of me with colleagues and students.  I won't tell you about the compliments as I will blush!

So I have my syllabus mostly ready but some things still to organize for the first day.  I have thought about going to Putuoshan, an island just off the coast of Shanghai/Ningpo.  However, I may just wait as my first class is on Thursday morning at 8 am, which requires me to leave by 6:30 again.  I guess that I still haven't figured out the right bus for the straight through trip to Yan Chang!  Hmmmm ... we'll see.

Again watching the Space Station fit the second set of cooling tubes for the new Harmony node so that Columbus, the new European Space Lab can be attached to the space station in the beginning of December.  Sure is nice to have a good, fast internet connection!
