XL?!!?
I am sitting here listening to Joe Satriani's - i believe and
feeling great with my new long underwear on! If I do go to Shen
jiamen and Putuoshan, I figured I need the extra body gloves.
YES, who wouldda believed that I was an XL?!!?
NO, I HAVE LOST THE TURKEY WEIGHT ALREADY!!! Laughing!
Just wild the sizes here, which is why I go to the fabric market so often. At least they measure!!
Keith and I went down yesterday after dealing with the new term - I'll finally finish the post from a couple of days ago called THE NEW TERM, now - expect that to pop up soon those of you who are on the email list! Took me until 10:30 to change classes and get a bit better organized and I AM SOOO GLAD THAT I DID!!!
Anyway, I finally had time to get down to the South Bund Soft Spinning Market (or Marber as one receipt calls it - the spelling in China is absolutely atrocious, I truly believe that an English native speaker could support themselves for life by just charging a small fee - in Chinese terms - for the suggestions. I understand why - I would be hard pressed to write a few Chinese characters and not make mistakes, no doubt. We just write differently!!! STILL, when you are a high-class jewelry store and spell a word two ways on the permanent storefront entrance sign ...).
Picked up my new suit - sigh, still too tight for me, normally I like a looser fitting jacket but it was fine. Chinese sizes are just very thin and they like things tight, NO DOUBT - but I won't go into that!
We wandered around the Foreign Language Bookstore and had a great time downtown on a really dreary, misty and fog/smoggy day!
When we returned we had to get out for some Nan Xiang Xiao Long (Steamed Baozi) - yum! A bowl of mian tiao (noodle stew really) - mian for short - was also on order. The weather has turned cool and so the coats and sweaters are on sale everywhere. I say cool because I have been viewing the weather back in the States!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!! Freezing (with snow flurries even perhaps) in Junction?!!? Snow in Oklahoma and Texas!!!
WOW, we haven't been below 40 degrees here - I am quite amazed. Yet, the humidity really does get into ones bones! REALLY FEELS cold. Oh, since they also build almost only in concrete - the cold just stays in the building no matter how much heat you turn on! Now in the place I live, it is different...
BACK to the food - I am still amazed at how many noodle places there are here in Shanghai (and in China). They are a major staple for the everyday food fare of Chinese - NO DOUBT!
Another interesting tidbit - the Chinese are trumpting in EVERY paper that the exchange rate is NOW appreciated above 7.4 rmb to the dollar! (I definitely believe that parity is at least up around 6 so they still have a long way to go, in my humble opinion.)
Oh - better call Mo for her birthday (a special one!).
