Shu you restaurant!
Let's see, eel, shrimp with the heads, wonderful fish (with no bones at all but the head was sticking up nicely), excellent sliced beef in green and red peppers with onions, Long ji tea and another excellent tea, scallops, a very tasty dim sum for "desert", Huang jiu (Yellow wine - very strong), very tasty green veggie (like a leek but not of the onion family), cubed squash, mushroom soup ... we were taken up to the 3rd floor and had a wonderful evening meal talking about life, work and love ... but in a light hearted manner! I forgot to mention that Mary Ren, the Assistant Dean for Business is also in our department. Unfortunately she was been unable to travel with us to Hangzhou, but did lead the group to see Prescott, the Nobel Laureate, and of course was a participant in the SILC conference. Sorry, no picture yet. Mary has a student, Daniel, whom I have been counseling to some degree on the benefits and virtues of various Ph. D. economics departments and graduate school
Talk about a restaurant specializing in service - there was a fu wu yuan (food handler) in the room at all times (oh, we were on the third floor with our own room), she brought us a wet towel to start, tea and then more tea, two wet towels did replace the first during the meal and then a final one for clean-up once we were finished. She changed our plates twice so that any shells, etc. were taken away. Wine was poured (or coconut milk for others) whenever we needed a refill. Basically - 5 star service, no doubt and the food just melted in our mouths! Yum!
What a wonderful way to say thank you to a dedicated professor!
