Sunday Starbucks

Went out to Aushan supermarket early this morning and picked up a cutting board, two knives (one long and one short), bread, a long CAT 5 cable - 5 meters, two "fresh tight" containers to carry sandwiches, a 600 ml bottle of Coke, a 640 ml bottle of Carlsberg beer, and two Red Bulls - 102.9 yuan - that's about $14!  Nice! Now I don't have to worry about food once I travel down to the Yan Chang campus.  In that half hour I can just eat my sandwiches and not get sick (like I did last week)!!!  On the way back I met Sabrina, one of the Chinese English teachers, she's from just north of Dalian.  We chatted about living off campus - we'll see if it makes sense.

Then we ran into Helene (French with two opposite accents on the first two "e"s) and Keith (two of my fellow hotel dwellers who call Susan a traitor for leaving the hotel! JOKING!).  They were heading to Starbucks for a Latte!  I quickly ran up and dropped off my booty to join them.  Nice conversation and relaxing in the local Starbucks.  The view from the third floor is quite enjoyable and they brought around two trial coffees and two little pieces of almond cake - yum!

Then I came back to this notice:

Notice about the Schedule for New Year Holiday

According to the formal notice from Shanghai University, we are going to have three days holidays from December 30th 2007 to January 1st 2008.
(Sunday, Monday and Tuesday).

On December 29th (Saturday),  make up classes of Monday (December 31) in Even week, no making up classes for January 1st (Tuesday).

On December 29th, SILC and University buses will follow Monday’s schedule.

So I guess that Judy won't be back for a few extra days - nice for her to be with family in Colorado!  Yes, many things with Shanghai University are decided like this: We get a week of notice before a decision is made on something (for example National Holiday week, New Years Holiday, Finals)!  It is a crazy way to run an airline, let alone a University!  (Laughing)  So I get to work on Saturday, in the middle of my weekend - now I have a good justification for taking a four day holiday and heading down to Sebu, Philipines for a SCUBA trip - we'll see!  (Grinning wildly!)
