I MADE IT BACK TO THE HOTEL!!!

YES!!  They closed the road at 9 am!  I WAS able to get up to Alta (Goldminer's Daughter) and use my discounted pass (more about that in the next post).  The Sheriff ALMOST did not let the bus UP to Alta!  THEN we were told that the best chance was for the road to be closed until TOMORROW!!!

WAIT - but we were told noon?!?  hmmm ... Oh Well - there's a ton of POWDER on that there mountain!!! YES!

We went CRAZY - my thighs are telling me!  AND that big wide grin on my face!

The snow was coming down SOOO heavily that our tracks were almost immediately covered.  *I* had to keep taking breaks every two runs or I KNEW that I would not ski tomorrow (at least not much)!  A nice lunch break told us that the canyon WOULD DEFINITELY be closed for 24 hours!  We heard the howitzers going off!!!  KAAABLAMM! and then the echo.  Sometimes we could hardly see, EVERYONE'S goggles became fogged and often snow just seemed to come INSIDE the goggles!  Snow was in everything and inside our jackets, our hats, our gloves!

We LOVED it!!!  Just the locals were about - the ROAD was closed!!! (mostly those who worked at Alta) and a few die-hards!  - Laughing, even one old one!

Sitting in the bar having a beer - Cutthroat, quite a nice pale ale from Wasatch Brewery - ok, then another ... all of a sudden about 5:15 a feeling came over me, I went down and the buses were getting ready to go!!!  No sleeping on a sofa?  No sleeping in the same clothes?!!!  No worries - 'cept it took until 7:50 to get home!

No worries - a dip in the pool, the jacuzzi, back in the pool and then to the jacuzzi again!  Sigh ...
