Traveling into Shanghai city from the district (Jia Ding)

Just a few quick comments here as the post is old now - I travel to Shanghai almost everyday.  The expressways and toll roads are quite excellent, though a "free-market" economist might say that the tolls are not high enough.  Too many vehicles on the toll roads so increasing the toll would decrease the congestion.  Obviously, in a country which subsidizes the refineries because the price of gasoline is too low (read price ceiling - see earlier post), the tolls are JUST FINE!

What is truly amazing is the height of these upper level expressways.  Many of them are 6 and 7 stories high!  I can count the floors on the apartment complexes as we ride higher and higher!  Quite amazing actually.  Now I don't know about you, but I would never stop on such an expressway - but low and behold, Chinese drivers regularly stop, in the middle right before an exit ramp, at the side of the road - where there is really no shoulder, and sometimes right in the lane in which they are traveling!!!  Please, if you are from America, DO NOT DRIVE in China!!

The Chinese do NOT DO ROAD RAGE!!!  However, an American would be in road rage, without even driving!!!  I just close my eyes and listen to tunes - no actually, most of the time I sit at the back where I have a great view and watch.

I continue to be amazed and amused by all that I see!  WOW!  (To quote a friend! grin)  Words cannot explain~!
