Running around Shanghai on a Friday - BEEEAAAUUUTIFUL DAY!!!

Well, well WELL!!!  What a change of day from all the pollution, haze, etc. !!!

Running around Shanghai, from up north (Jia Ding), to out east (#3 Metro line), to over in the South Bund (fabric market - down on the #8 subway-Metro line), back up on the 8 line to People's Square and walk over to Haya's Mediterranean "bakery" for the week's bread and lunch, to over at Sasha's having a couple of beers with Judy and Rita, to back up on Chengdu Lu and Nanjing Lu for the bus back to Jia Ding, there at Isabela's to stop in and see Keith, Faye, Tom and Jenny - as well as some of the students who did Antigone!!!  Yes, Jenny and Tom have put together a theatre class!!!

That is, they have actually trained to students to learn their lines, in English, and put on a very nice play, Antigone, for about 100 people (the largest venue they could get).  Twas a great one, I hear.  So they are on the second semester!!  We'll see how things go for the repeat but they enjoy it!

YES, for credit!~

Now Sasha's is at one of the Soong sisters mansion's - that is in the French Concession - the Soong sister who was Chang Kai Shek's wife.  The infamous Soong sisters were wealthy, extremely influential and had much of the power in Shanghai, China from the 1920s to the beginning of the Communist era.

The 1997 movie about the three sisters is called, "The Soong Sisters."  A must see for those interested in Chinese history, the KMT versus CCP interplay during the period and how Japan fit into the future of China.
