Cool and cloudy couple of days in Shanghai!!!
Well it has been totally awesome the last two days - pollution wise!! Of course the wind is blowing very nicely so one might expect a lot less pollution! I believe this is the main difference in Shanghai from Beijing! In Shanghai, we live on the water, at sea level, so the wind can blow out the pollution (at least sometimes). In Beijing, they are surrounded by mountains (at least on three sides) and have another big city on the other, Tianjin!

As I said, a nice cloudy day - yesterday the temperature never was above 65 degrees F (69 is average) or below 57 (54 is the average low). The wind was usually gusting between 10 to 20 mph.
When do I exclaim the bad pollution, when I cannot see the white building in the distance - it used to be all green (the netting used during construction is green) and I could still sometimes not see the building. The "haze" is white rather than yellow and so isn't quite as bad looking but *I* believe it is worse because it is white!
Construction particulates, smoke from the steel factories and diesel fumes from the nightly run of trucks are, from what I have been told and read, the leading causes of the pollution here in Shanghai. Quite a few new buildings are about to go up here in Jia Ding - the boom HERE continues unabated. We'll see if the central bank's tightening has an effect or not!
