Japanese food - Jia Ding style - pictures to follow later
SO we had a little Jia Ding American teachers dinner as Karen was to leave this morning (June 9). At the end I did get a toast for my birthday as well (June 8) - amazing when I thought of it whilst calling friends in the U.S.:
Let's see, in 2003 I was up in Wisconsin (just outside of Washburn to be exact) - Lake Superior - helping Ulf "finish" his stairs and work on the house, whilst enjoying the kayaking and life of the cool north.
In 2004, I was at the beginning of a 16,000+ mile tour around the U.S. and Canada, with a focus on Canada. Being born in Canada, I felt that I needed to really travel the country (which I will continue in July this year). I was staying in Wallingford, Connecticutt, with Michael eating soft shell crabs, lobster and lots of clams while doing a little consulting work.
In 2005, I was at the shores of Lake Titicaca, Peru with Shirley Pretty (wonder if she's still up in Vernon, B.C.), amazing how we lose track of friends at times. We had already trekked up three mountains to at least 14,500 ft on each and 16,000+ at Mt. Ausangate. Yes, climbed Mount Machu Picchu and to the Temple of the Moon too.
In 2006, I was kayaking out from Anacortes, Washington just off of Bellingham on a 7 day adventure in the San Juan Islands. Before heading back up into Canada and then over to Wisconsin as well.
2007 - one year ago - found me at Everest Base camp and Kala Patthar - 5,550 meters! What a party that was and I imagine we were all high from the high altitude, to say the least!
So this year - 2008 - I didn't go anywhere - I AM ALREADY HERE!!! Laughing! Still a week to go before my passport will be returned and I can travel again. I will need the time to relax, reorganize and finish up some work details!
There was no plan - as now - whatever happens and intuitively feels right to do is where I put my energy. I continue to look forward to the summer which promisses to be awesome, next year here in Shanghai, and the future! Come along if you're interested! Laughing! SERIOUSLY! The more the merry-er!
