Review finished, two abstracts to write
Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day finishing a review of "Asset Management" - an article (or Chapter) for the Handbook of Technology Management, a new three volume Handbook to be published by John Wiley Press. I have been reading and stewing over HOW to write up the review, etc. for the past month, amongst everything else I have been doing!! Since the deadline was today (June 14), I wanted to finish up the review and send it last night!
While not paid or even recognized by my current employer in my job description, professors in the U.S. are required to keep up with the literature, write reviews, and generally do service type projects. Therefore, I accepted the invitation to review the article as I knew that the deadline meant I would finish just before my passport arrives (or something like that)!!
Now there is a conference in Beijing from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 called, "Diversity in Harmony: the 11th Australian Studies Conference in China." Diversity in Harmony as a theme draws upon ancient Chinese philosophies and cultural traditions together with the current leadership of China's call for harmonious relationships. The conference focuses on Australia and mostly Australian culture, therefore I thought that a paper on Australian Shamanism would be clearly appropriate under the title of Indigenous studies and Australian culture. Something I am interested in studying.
I also will write a paper on the Australian economy. The abstracts are due by June 30 so I wish to finish writing up these two abstracts in the next two days.
