On to Calgary tomorrow!

Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 29) I will leave going west from Nakusp (instead of north to Revelstoke as usual) across the longest free ferry in B.C., over Kootenay Lake, on to Creston, Cranbrook, over the Rockies and up to Calgary.  The ferries through the Kootenays (as this area is called between the Monashee mountains and the Rockies, including the Purcell and Selkirk mountain ranges and valleys) are free as BC Hydro (the power company, in more ways than one) dammed up all the rivers and made lakes.  The agreements were that the ferries would be free forever because BC Hydro made them necessary!

My cousin James and Kelly Parkes and their son A J. live in Calgary (Larry's youngest) so I always get in a quick visit to them as well when traveling through to the midwest.

I will travel along Highway 2 in the U.S. through Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin for the next few days after that.  Most likely blog posting will be postdated once I arrive in the big town of Washburn!!!  (At Ulf and Pat's!)
