P.S. - Bags made it alright!
TSA DID open one of the bags (not the one totally wrapped in tape, THANK YOU AGAIN SCOTT - books demand certain "Roller" type bags and the only one I had was in need of special "Duct tape" attention - grin). They leave a little note with a tag from your bag on the note - I saw the woman tag it when I checked my baggage in Grand Junction (I am sure they did the inspection right there). Oh, they will cut your lock if it is not a TSA lock (one they have a key to open) and, of course, TSA does not assume responsibility for the lock breakage.

It is now 5:03 am in China and I have been awake and unpacking for about an hour and a half. One of the rigors of traveling half way around the world is that you leave your "sleep-self" somewhere along the way. Oft-times it takes up to a week to "correct" - grin. The bus leaves from here in Zha Bei district for the Jia Ding district at 7 am (the SILC free bus, that is).
pps - I have NOW corrected the blog to reflect the proper time zone. That is to say, to reflect WHEN I am blogging - 4:56 am now, for example. grin
