Pollution levels - Shanghai Monitoring Center

As you can plainly see we suffered quite horrendously during the week just past and only the heavy rains of Friday really cleared out the air! Unfortunately, Shanghai does not monitor the fine or very fine particulates, as I have mentioned before (PM5 and PM1, I believe they are called). These particulates are the ones most injurious to the lungs.
Speaking of pollution, many say that Beijing has worse pollution than Shanghai. Well my current thoughts are to travel to Beijing come the end of the week as I have 10 days in between my last classes and Final Exams for my students. Weird scheduling as I give final exams on Nov. 24 and 26 in the afternoons, have a physical exam all day on Nov. 28 (Friday) and then must begin classes for the next term on Dec. 1!! I still have yet to find out when the final grades must be entered into the computers, but I am sure that I will have at least an hour's notice!
Luckily, I keep all of my grades on an Excel spreadsheet and the final grades are always updated to the latest scores entered. "This is the grade you have if I were to give you a final grade today." Is my mantra! grin It's that transparency thingy - I do practice what I preach (and TRY to live by it)!
