Weather and Pollution in Shanghai

I know that I have included these charts before from this Shanghai Environmental website.  However, I wanted to show you how quickly the pollution levels can change in Shanghai.  Notice we had an AWESOME day on the 19th!!!  Only to be followed with a terrible two days (especially on Saturday, I really didn't want to go out!).  Furthermore, Thursday was really tough too!!!  Sigh!  Winter in China is tough with all of the coal power plants AND individuals who burn coal at home too.  Learned that one in Beijing!

You can see there are days like the 14th when Shanghai really has low pollution, for China as well as a city of 20 million!  The Chinese leaders REALLY have to work on tackling these problems - one of which is to modernize the types of trucks produced!!  Buses have been modernized and are kept quite new (in Shanghai) but the trucks are still made the same way and pollute more than any other vehicle by far.  It is actually disgraceful in a large "modern" city to see brand new trucks that spew ... OK, you get the picture!
