A NEW 9" snow while we skied yesterday! - Pic

After 7 days of snowing, perhaps the snowing is going to end - sigh!  It looks like a High Pressure will move in for the rest of my trip!

Yesterday's trip up to Snowbird turned into an Alta trip (Alta is only one more mile up Little Cottonwood canyon).  The Tram was closed, Little Cloud Chairlift was closed and the whole backside called Mineral Basin was closed due to high winds!!!

Once off the top of the mountain and into the trees, there was DEEP powder EVERYWHERE!!!  The picture above is taken from the top of the mountain at Alta (after taking the high traverse).

Special training for dogs was available at the base.  Employees are buried (there were only a few hardy souls braving the elements this day - meaning a few hundred rather than the thousands as will show up on Saturday and Sunday).  Once the employee is buried in a snow cave, the dog searches to find her/him.

Finally, a picture at the end of the day - frozen on the outside but warm and thoroughly satisfied on the inside!!

Yes, I quit skiing at 4:15 - could have done one more run but physically I was done!  Skiing five out of six days (including going up higher on the Mesa to cross country ski last Friday as it was raining down at Peter's house at Powderhorn resort), I only took Sunday off to travel from Grand Junction to Salt Lake City.
