I am back and so is the Pollution!! Dang!
Interestingly, if one thought that a slowdown in the Chinese economy might lead to less pollution, think again!
Maybe it is the Spring Festival (which we call the Chinese New Year). As you may have heard, the Chinese Mouthpiece - CCTV (Chinese Central TV) had a party and fireworks - normal for Chinese and their companies, but this one was illegal (Funny and Illegal Government Function! - grin)
OH - it BURNT DOWN THE CCTV HOTEL!!! Shanghai Daily article explains here:
Ummm, I don't quite understand - the building was not finished, no sprinkler system, etc. but USED DURING THE OLYMPICS!!!!????
Only in China - I guess!
The inversion has created 21 degree Celsius highs (70 degrees Fahrenheit)!!! Rain at the weekend will rid us of the pollution and yet the inversion in Salt Lake City was never this bad! Sigh - living in other cities in China is MUCH worse but that is no consolation!
Furthermore, as many have said, the current Economic slowdown/depression will not help to innovate in a "Green" way!
