The Valley of the Kings! Pictures ...
The third day in Luxor (as we took the night train, we actually "gained" a day).
We took the ferry across the Nile to the West side where the Valley of the Kings and Queens - the Tombs - are.
First to the female Pharoh, Hatshepsut's tomb ... much of her legacy was destroyed by the next male in her lineage!!
What a place - the scale is almost impossible to imagine - and not all of the tomb has been reconstructed by any means!
Then there is the insides - still showing the colorful grandeur after all these years (like say well over 4,000)!!
See the scale?
Next to the Valley of the Kings:
This is a picture underneath showing the tunnels to the tombs! amazing how beautiful they were and the depth!
Down into the tomb ..
Oops - NO PICTURES OR THEY TAKE AWAY YOUR CAMERA AND DELETE THEM MAKING YOU PAY A FINE!!! I am lucky!
The tombs were absolutely beautiful and amazing ...
Again, by noon or so we were hot and sweaty so it was time to repair to the pool and a/c!! Shopping was also a favorite past-time during the evening these days.
