Bus tickets bought and Roman Theatre Visited
Blogging while the Simpsons are on TV in Amann, Jordan - who would have thought THAT?!!?
Tonight we are going to watch Transformers 2 - after all, it happened in Petra, Wadi Rum, Giza and Karak - right where we have
been the last few weeks. We tried last night but knew we would fall asleep - a few stayed and did see the 11:30 pm showing!
Today we took a walking tour of Amann - 1st century, 3rd century, etc. Umayyad, Roman, Byzantine ruins - up to the Citadel which had some statues from 8,600 B.C. and the Dead Sea Scrolls - HOW AMAZING - never expected to see the Dead Sea Scrolls like that, just wandered into the Jordan Archealogical Museum in the Citadel and there they were. Quite an amazing array of artifacts - all for 2 JD (less than $3).
Just before we arrived at the Citadel on the way up from the Roman Theatre, we found a group of kids playing and started talking with them, mom came out and after a few minutes invited us in for coffee, but the water was out so she gave us Fanta and sent someone to get water - then they made coffee, finally she sent someone out to get ice cream bars for us and gave us candy too!!! We struggled at times to understand each other but managed to do so quite well.
Mom introduced us to her daughter - older, two sons and much younger daughter. Then we figured out that the older daughter had two young daughters TOO - yes, she looked old enough but we wanted to be polite and make sure we understood properly. One of those amazing synchonicities that just happen if you pay attention and are open to possibilities!
