Qi Bao Water Town, Shanghai
Today I took the #1 subway line to the Shanghai Train station (2 stops), walked over and under to the #3 subway line (no extra charge but you have to walk all the way to the other side of the train station!!). Then I took the #3 line to the #9 line exit (about 9 stops), then walked to the beginning of the #9 line and took it to Qi Bao (about 15 kilometers). Cost was 6 yuan - less than $1. In the past, a taxi fare was around 70 yuan or $10 and the bus line took forever! Soon we will have the #9 line through to #1 and the trip will be much easier!
So what does it look like - here you go ...
and the bridge to get that picture is like this ...
Oh and the street to get to that bridge at 10 am (not even noon yet) ...
The shopping was crazy all along the street above, but after the bridge came the food, the Shanghainese LOVE their barbeque ...
and the candies, lots of glutinous rice, etc. (I don't even know most of them) ...
a better shot of the other side ...
People everywhere (National Day vacation). And ... well, then there are "delicacies" ...
and then there are TRUE DELICACIES!!! ....
The Chinese DO love their candies ... grin ... then I wandered through town and back to the bridges on either side and loved the view below looking back at the main center bridge...
The boats were a little tipsy looking but no worries! I also enjoyed the view looking 180 degrees from above ...
And finally, I couldn't resist the fellow below telling his tales and enjoying the wonderful day ...
What a wonderful day!!
