Lupit and Rick, Two SuperTyphoons NOT in Shanghai

We have been curiously missed by the Typhoons this year after at least one huge flood each of the last two years, here in Shanghai (though I am sure the season is yet to finish).

The Philippines and Baja look to be slammed AGAIN!!!  They have been hit hard in 2009!

And the pollution is VERY NOTICEABLY high the last few days - remember we don't even measure the fine or very fine particles here in Shanghai.

EXPO may have a lasting impression as we are told is true in Beijing that they have cleaner air after the Olympics (see article here).  However, cleaner air than before does not mean the air is yet up to standards of Western countries.  As I have stated before, when the steel production was exported so came the pollution steel manufactures (and Bao Steel, one of the world's largest steel companies is headquartered with some production here in Bao Shan, Shanghai).  The dust settling on the new and newly cleaned cars is very noticeable these last two days!
