A Spin Around Mortimer Island - the North Island
The Slate Islands are theorized to have been hit by a meteor so you may notice the shattered rock, etc. There are two main islands, Mortimer at the north and Patterson on the south. Patterson is by far the larger island and mostly shields the inland bays and islands from the ravenous storms of Lake Superior (which are NOT to be trifled with).

It is extremely hard to see the sholes and rocks in front of these cliffs so one tries to keep a distance and look for a better place to find a safe haven!

The beach ahead looks a whole lot better as the beach has a very gentle slope (probably does NOT get pounded by waves) and has a fairly nice cove. We are just circling the island so not looking for a place to stay the night.

Stopping HERE, however, was quite ... INTERESTING, to say the least!!! Laughing ...

Finally back on our home beach/camp site for the night AFTER the storm has come through and the sun is getting low on the horizon, providing a rather nice hue and double rainbow.
