Whistler Going Public!

Grading 180 Midterm exams this weekend!!  - YES, I do actually work sometimes!  grin

From a Scotia Bank (Canada) email feed ...

Whistler is going public!  (Whistler website)

According to Bloomberg (and widely covered almost everywhere) U.S. private equity giant Fortress Capital is preparing to unload $300 million of its stake in the Canadian skiing and recreation mecca Whistler Blackcomb. Whistler has been split away from the rest of the Intrawest holdings and Whistler Blackcomb Holdings is taking it public. Fortress bought Intrawest in the summer of 2006 for roughly $2.8 billion, including $950 million in debt. If the UK has publicly traded pubs, perhaps it is fitting for Canada to have publically traded ski hills and hockey rinks.
